Work Placement Officer – Kickstart

Salary: £23,432 p/annum rising to £26,575 p/annum with length of service

We have an excellent opportunity to join our Employment and Skills Team based in Blackburn as a Work Placement Officer, supporting The Kick Start Scheme.

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new jobs for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. This post is crucial to that offer, as you will be providing meaningful opportunities that give individuals the support to get practical experience in the work place, building up their knowledge and skills alongside building their confidence to enhance their prospects of future employment.

You will be working to support participants by meeting the requirements of pre-identified working placements, by providing training, information, advice & guidance to your participants. You will then be working to mentor them to ensure a smooth transition into the work placement and support throughout. Central to this role is to ensure there are clear guidance for both the candidate and employer at the onset of a placement and good communication is maintained throughout.

You will have to work closely with the employment and skills team colleagues to ensure that progressions into work and / or further training beyond work placements are also identified and secured.

Your current experience, skills and knowledge should consist of:

  • Experience of working with adults, between ages 16-24, engaging with them, assisting them in employment programmes and getting them into work.
  • Experience of problem solving & maintaining and managing a very varied caseload
  • Experience of developing positive professional working relationships with people who have multiple issues, and barriers to getting them into full time employment.
  • Evidence of achieving performance targets.
  • Updating internal CRM systems.
  • Have an IAG Level 2 or willing to complete one within 6 months of starting role

This role is subject to a full enhanced DBS check, which Together Housing will support the ideal candidate through

A full driving licence is required with access to a car, as travel across East Lancashire is an essential part of the role.
