Hi, my name’s Si Donnelly and I have worked for Newground for the last 2 years after transferring from Together Housing Group, where I worked in supported accommodation at the James St Project for 9 years. Here at Newground, I hold the position of Senior Sustainable Communities Officer or in everyday terms, working as the Senior Lead on the Engaging Vulnerable Young People and Creative Engagement Projects in an information, advice, guidance, mentor, life coach supporting role to people aged between 14 – 25 year old, who are deemed at crisis level in the Blackburn with Darwen Borough whilst providing and promoting, knowledge, understanding of everyday life issues and lived experiences, positive interactions, interventions, motivation, mindfulness and emotional support. Working on the Creative Engagement Team as Referral Lead and facilitator, which engages people from the age of 19 to 65 who are furthest from the Labour Market. Our aim is to engage people from hostels and supported accommodation, we look to engage the participants in a range of activities which are community, culture and education based with a view to moving people forward in their lives. I have also been involved with the England Illegal Money Lending Team securing funding for the creation of a short film highlighting the impact of Loansharks in local communities. The film, Landsharks, won the Best UK Short Film in 2018.
