Newground Together has supported over 500 people into work in the last two years. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Employment & Skills People Lancashire Team based in Blackburn, as a Senior Employment Advisor, overseeing a team of Community Employment Advisors on a large funded employability programme.  As well as managing a team, you will also be responsible for your own caseload, generating weekly / monthly statistical reports and outcomes, be creative, hardworking and possess excellent people management skills.

The person for this role must be passionate in supporting people that have been out of work for over 12 months, to address any barriers they currently have, preventing them from accessing or securing paid employment. Whether that be training and development or personal barriers linked to their current circumstances.

  • This is a multi-faceted role offering an exciting opportunity to support people with multiple barriers to gain, maintain and sustain paid employment.
  • This position will suit a self-starter, who is able to use their own initiative, whilst also implementing evidence based employment methods.
  • You must be a team player; demonstrating reliability, constructive communication and playing an active part in team meetings – working towards a common goal in supporting the people of Lancashire into employment and training.

The project aims to upskill and find gainful employment for all candidates. As part of this offer you will:-

  • Oversee and secure work placements for our customers on Newground Together Employment Programmes.
  • Generate additional job opportunities.
  • Run sector-based training academies.
  • Support businesses in welcoming candidates who have been long-term unemployed.

You will need the following key skills, knowledge & experience to work as a Senior Employment Advisor;

  • Ability to lead on the development of work placement, traineeship & volunteering opportunities for The Employment and Skills People Lancashire participants.
  • Experience to line manage Employment Advisors, working together as part of the wider Employment & Skills People team.
  • Have the ability to engage with local employers to secure employment, training, work placement and apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the local labour market, local employers, information and statistics, and work alongside the employment team to align training and skills development and job brokerage – covering not only local labour market trends, but also opportunities.
  • Experience of developing and managing effective delivery of employment programmes and engagement activity.
  • Experience of developing and delivering needs led interventions including programmes of training and employability.

This role is subject to a full enhanced DBS check, which Together Housing will support the ideal candidate through

A full driving license is also required, along with access to your own vehicle insured for business purposes; with travel to our other offices throughout the North of England.
